‘Digital Photography Workbook for Dummies (For Dummies)’ by Doug Sahlin
‘The Digital Photography Workbook for Dummies’ was written by Doug Sahlin and is one of the ‘For Dummies’ series. It was published in April 2008 and contains 352 pages. For anyone who has started to dabble in digital photography, but is disappointed with the results, this book is a great read. Inside, aspiring photographers will learn a number of different tips and techniques that will help to improve their digital photography skills.
The first thing that this book will attempt to do is help the photographer better understand their digital camera. The author goes through the various features that are commonly found on a digital camera and explains their purpose in detail. While there are sure to be automatic settings and controls on the majority of these cameras, to achieve the best results, it will often be necessary to switch them off and learn how to use them manually.
Once you understand your digital camera, the book will teach you how to use it. This means understanding depth of field, exposure and shutter speed. There are illustrated instructions throughout this book which readers will find easy to understand.
The author has included a section about how to take great digital photographs in a variety of weather conditions and there is also information about the best way to capture landscapes and cityscapes, which require quite different techniques. Finally, there is a great section that suggests the best way to organise all the digital photographs that you take.
